When our life becomes dull, we need entertainment. One kind of entertainment is picnic. Picnics are liked by everyone, but children especially jump for joy when the word is mentioned. The purpose of picnic is to make the best use of a day’s holiday. Picnic serves its purpose well. It inspires a common action among a group of friends. It keeps them in a good holiday-mood. It makes them go the nearest woods which is beneficial to their health. It gives them pleasure of feast and forest. Here they learn how to work with pleasure. Here they learn how to work in common and enjoy in common.

Last week we had a picnic. We made necessary preparations and started at 6 AM. The spot was the river of Janakpur called Dudhmati. We spread our carpet under a tree and rested. Goma made tea and we had it with biscuits. We had brought two men with us to cook food. They started their work and we went to the airport. It is a big field with many buildings. We learnt many things about the airport. We also enjoyed visiting it. By this time it had been 1 o’clock and we felt hungry. We returned to our picnic spot. The meal was ready. We took our meal. The dishes were tasteful. There was a sort of song competition which lasted for about two hours. Sanjay started his stories. They were full of humor and wit. It was evening and the weather was cool. When it was 5 PM we got ready to return. We packed or things and we came back home talking, laughing and singing all the way.

Picnic is very common with the school children. College students also go on picnics.  Picnic is certainly the best of use of day’s holiday.

We all know the Biblical story of David and Goliath. Goliath was a giant of a man. He stuck fear in everyone’s heart. One day, a 17-years-old shepherd boy came to visit his brothers and asked. “Why don’t you stand to and fight the giant?” The brothers were terrified of Goliath and they replied. “Don’t you see he is too bit to hit?” but David said, “No he is not too big to hit, he is too big to miss.” The rest is history.
