Dipawali is the festival of lights. It is a famous festival of the Hindus. It falls in November. It is celebrated all over Nepal. It is said that the people of Ayodhya showed their joy by lighting lamps when Ram returned home from the exile. This was the origin of this festival. Another story is that Krishna killed Narakasur and then the festival began.

People of Hindu religion wait very eagerly for this special festival of Diwali. It is the most important and favorite festival of everyone especially for kids and children of the home. Great preparations are made for Dipawali. People get their houses whitewashed and cleaned. They paint their furniture. Shops are decorated very well. New pictures are hung. People buy new clothes. Evil feelings go away from our mind. We eat delicious food. The joy of the boys knows no bound. They are filled with zeal. We exchange the cards of Happy Dipawali with our friends.

Diwali is a very amusing festival. Some people attach scientific value to this occasion. They say that the harmful worms and insects are destroyed in the lamps burning. Really, we saw that a large number of worms were dying in the lamp at every spot of celebration. But were they really harmful?
